Slattery Sales Tip: You can't generate concern if it's not their concern.
💡Today's Slattery Sales tip:
➡️If you’re trying to get a prospect concerned about something that isn’t their concern...
... then you may have the wrong person in the room. 👀👀
You can't generate concern if it's not their concern.
We often see salespeople try to generate concern around the problem they solve. "We could help you solve this problem!"
They're baffled that the people they're talking to at the prospect enterprise are aware of the problem... but aren't really concerned about it.
❌ The real question isn't, "How can I get them concerned?"
➡️ The real question is: "Is this THEIR area of concern?"
If not... you may be talking to the wrong person. 👀👀
🔥 Expand the cast of characters to include the person whose dashboard is showing red because of the problem you solve.
🔥 Include the person whose performance metrics are tied to the problem you solve.
🔥 You won’t have to “get” them concerned about anything; you won’t have to persuade, convince, or cajole. They’re already paying the bill to keep the problem unnecessarily. They will be your natural ally.
If you think you have the right people in the room but find yourself trying to “get” a prospect concerned about the problem you solve, then check your org chart. In spite of their protestations that they’re "most-definitely-the-decision-maker-for-this-kind-of-thing," they’re probably the wrong person to engage.
🔥Remember, If you’re trying to get a prospect concerned about something that isn’t their concern, then you may have the wrong person in the room. 🔥
